Smile In A Day
Smile in a day (sometimes referred to as teeth in a day or all-on-4) replaces your teeth (or dentures) with a fully fixed in bridge secured by a minimum of four dental implants.
It is the closest you can get to a full set of natural teeth and has a wide range of benefits (found lower down the page).
The Problem With Wearing Dentures
If you have dentures, you will be aware that they move around as you eat and speak. This tends to get worse over time because the jaws gradually shrink when there are no teeth present.
Eventually there may be little bone for the dentures to rest on causing dentures to slip and slide, fall when speaking, or make chewing some foods impossible.

Dr. Peter Doherty Interviews Recent Smile In A Day Patients
Many of our patients have reported embarrassment in social situations, being afraid to go out for a meal with their husband or wife, covering their mouth when laughing, and avoiding photographs at weddings and other happy family occasions.
In addition, when you are missing teeth, it leads to shrinking of the jaw bone and subsequent changes to the facial features such as wrinkles around the mouth, sunken cheeks and a prominent chin.
In this video, Dr. Peter Doherty is joined by recent patients Karen and Sean to discuss their experience with 'Smile In A Day' in more detail and to find out how it has impacted their lives.
Cost Of Smile In A Day
Smile in a day costs from €11,000 per arch/jaw. (An arch or jaw means the same thing.) We see this figure as an investment in yourself, your confidence and your smile.
Smile in a day is tax deductible, so you will get 20% of this cost back from the government. We offer payment plans of up to 12 months and we require 50% of payment upfront.
Smile in a day is also available from €345 per month on humm financing.

Your Initial Consultation
A full examination of the mouth will be carried out at your first appointment. We will also take a three dimensional image of your mouth using our high tech cone beam CT imaging system. We will discuss the problems you are having and will address those issues when planning our final result.
We then plan your treatment and take moulds and records of your mouth to select the appropriate shape and position of your new teeth, and decide where the implants should be positioned.
You are free to choose the shade of the teeth and we will help you with that, or we can even choose an appropriate shade for you if you would prefer.
The Day Of Your Procedure
On the day of the procedure we start at 8am. You will be given some sedation beforehad to help you relax and take away any anxiety.
The gums will be gently numbed, and any remaining bad teeth are removed. The implants are then placed and moulds of the mouth taken. The procedure is generally finished between 10 and 10.30am.
You will then be brought to our relaxation room where you can get comfy on a soft recliner and watch TV, read a book, or take a nap while our dental technicians create your teeth in our onsite dental laboratory.
Your New Smile - In Just 1 Day
That evening your fixed in teeth are delivered by 5pm and you can return home to enjoy your new natural looking smile.
In the video in this panel, Dr. Peter Doherty walks you through an animated walk through of the procedure.
Smile Transformation Case Study
Our patient came to see us as he was unhappy with the appearance of his teeth. They were decayed, broken down, and also affected by gum disease. It was affecting his confidence and he wanted something to replace these teeth.
We removed his teeth, placed dental implants, and provided him with fixed in bridges - all in the same day.
After six months, when the implants were fully bonded in, we replaced his temporary bridges with final bridges to give him the result and the smile he was looking for!

What are the differences between a '3 on 6', 'all on 4' and an 'all on 6'?
3 on 6:
- This refers to a full arch solution where six dental implants support three dental bridges to replace an entire row of teeth.
All on 4:
- Describes a dental implant technique where four strategically placed implants support a full arch of teeth (also known as 'smile in a day'!).
All on 6:
- Similar to all on 4, but it utilizes six dental implants to support an entire arch of teeth.
The main difference lies in the number of dental implants supporting teeth and the number of bridges.
'3 on 6' and 'all on 6' utilize six implants, while 'all on 4' relies on four implants.
The choice between these options depends on various factors such as bone quality, available space, and the patient's specific needs.
What are the advantages of 'all on 4' over dentures?
The all on 4 (smile in a day) treatment offers many advantages over dentures, such as:
- Same day teeth
- Improved chewing ability
- Enhanced aesthetics and self-confidence
- An unobstructed pallet
- Preserves the jaw bone and facial structure
- Affordable full arch solution
- Look and feel like natural teeth
- Avoid embarrassing situations
All on 4 is the preferred treatment to replace an entire arch of missing or failing teeth.
Generally, the preference between implant retained dentures and all on 4 depends on bone quality and quantity, budget, overall oral health, and treatment goals.
A thorough assessment by an implant dentist will help determine the most suitable treatment option.
