What Is Prosthodontics?
Prosthodontics focuses on dental prostheses. A prosthesis is an artificial device used to replace or augment a damaged or missing part of the body.
Prosthodontics specialises in restoring and replacing cracked, broken, worn, or missing teeth - and as such, it is typically categorised as cosmetic dentistry. Treatments involving prosthodontics are often complex and challenging cases.
Examples of prosthodontics include crowns, bridges, bonding, veneers and more. Simona Kostova explains further in this video.

Our Dental Lab
We fabricate all of our dental prostheses on-site in our state-of-the-art dental laboratory. We scan moulds of your mouth into our CAD/CAM software, where our expert dental technicians design your new smile.
Our lab technicians mill or 3D print the new tooth and finish it by hand to match the colour, shade and look of your other existing teeth. Having the lab on-site allows for better collaboration between dentists and technicians, which leads to better results and a faster turnaround time.

Crowns
Dental crowns help to strengthen and improve the appearance of damaged or missing teeth.
They consist of a small “cap” that is added to the top of the damaged tooth and are usually made from porcelain, however, a variety of different materials are available depending on your individual requirements.
Dr. Carmen Anastasiu explains the dental crown treatment in more detail in this video including the treatment timeline and the next steps.
Bridges
Dental bridges are similar to dental crowns but are used when a group of teeth are damaged beyond repair or missing.
They are specially fabricated for you, and are permanently fitted to ensure they stay strong and secure.
Composite Bonding
Composite bonding is a really modern and conservative way of conserving teeth.
Basically, we layer over your existing teeth with a highly aesthetic, highly polishable composite resin. This ensures we're not affecting your teeth underneath - there's no drilling or no anaesthetic required.
This treatment can make your teeth brighter and whiter. It can also repair broken or misaligned teeth.
So you can go from broken down, dark teeth to a beautiful white smile over the course of a 2 or 3 hour appointment!
Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that we fit on the tooth, in order to improve the aesthetics of the smile.
If you have stained teeth or have small gaps in your teeth, veneers could be a good option for you.
There are several different types of veneers including:
Digital Smile Design
Our digital smile design process gives you the opportunity to try your 'new' teeth (what your new smile will look like) into the mouth, so you can see what the final result will look like before they go ahead with any treatment.
You can make any changes that you would like at this point - allowing you to create your perfect smile in conjunction with your dentist.
Cosmetic Consultations
Your inital appointment with us will always consist of a consultation.
Your dentist will first of all ask you what you would like to achieve with your smile, following by performing a dental examination.
They will then discuss with you the best options for you based on what you're trying to achieve.
Vanesa Miniello discusses this further in this video.
